2025 SUMMER PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Position Title: Summer Program Director

Department: City of Troy - Summer Youth Program

 

Work Schedule: Part-Time (M - TH 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM - June 2025 - August 2025)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The City of Troy is currently accepting applications for a Summer Program Director for our Youth Summer Program, which begins in June 2025 and ends in August 2025 with a break during July 4th week. The program director will train program assistants and plan weekly/daily activities for enrolled children (K through 6th). In addition, the director will be the primary contact for the program and responsible for all communication with parents.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to supervise and train program assistants.

  • Work with assistants to develop, implement, and plan age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and field trips.

  • Ability to lead and actively participate in games/programs with children.

  • Effectively monitor behavior while using appropriate discipline techniques.

  • Coordinate and organize regularly held program-related fundraisers. (Car wash & Troy Days Dunk Tank)

  • Prepare and maintain necessary supplies and stay within budget guidelines. (Snacks, Wipes, Sunscreen etc)

  • Communicate effectively with parents.

  • Be available for the duration of the program and demonstrate a positive work ethic.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Skills: Experience working with children K-6th Grade is preferred.

  • Licenses, Certificates: Reliable transportation is required. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required, or the incumbent must be willing to obtain by date of employment.

    • Must have a valid Driver's License

    • Must be over 21 years old.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Physical Demands: Primarily physical and active work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds, carrying, walking, and standing.

  • Work Environment: Indoors and outdoors, with occasional visits to outdoor parks and other recreational destinations.

  • Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer, calculator, copier, and telephone.
