TROY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Historical Society was loosely created in 1992 as a subcommittee of the Friends of the Troy Library group. These local Troy residences wanted to help preserve the local history and participate in the Centennial Celebration for the founding of the city.
In 1996, for the celebration of the Centennial of the Incorporation of the Village of Troy (Sept 13, 1897), they organized officially as the Troy Historical Society.

In 1996, for the celebration of the Centennial of the Incorporation of the Village of Troy (Sept 13, 1897), they organized officially as the Troy Historical Society. They provided historical themed displays at the annual Troy Days celebrations. In 2006, the group became incorporated in order to raise funds to purchase a location for a museum and storage of the memorabilia and other items of historical significance to Troy’s history that they had accumulated. At the same time, they became an official non-profit organization. In 2015, the museum property was purchased on Main Street in downtown Troy. The Museum opened July 2016.
