GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

​

The City of Troy is seeking a responsible and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer in collaboration with the City of Deary. This position involves ensuring compliance with municipal codes and ordinances to maintain the safety, health, and appearance of the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to serving the public.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Investigate and respond to complaints related to code violations (e.g., zoning, property maintenance, nuisance issues).

• Conduct regular inspections of properties to ensure compliance with city codes and ordinances.

• Issue notices or warnings for non-compliance.

• Maintain accurate records of enforcement activities, including inspections and follow-ups.

• Educate residents, businesses, and property owners on city codes and regulations.

• Collaborate with the Mayor, council, staff and law enforcement when necessary.

• Attend City Council meetings as required to address code violations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).

• Prior experience in law enforcement, code enforcement, or a related field is preferred.

• Strong understanding of municipal codes and zoning regulations or a willingness to learn.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

• Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office) for recordkeeping and reporting.

• Valid Idaho driver’s license with a clean driving record.

 

​Work Hours: This is a part-time position requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Some evening or weekend hours may be required based on community needs.
